So February market gained a lot of interest, as there seemed to be more 'weekenders' around rather than the regular locals I see each month, although it is nice to chat to the locals!
Loads of cards were taken away so I'm hoping for a few contacts post market day. One of the great things about chatting to locals is that you get to learn all sorts of things. Like where there is another blacksmith advertising for space to set up their forge, a commission for renovating a bench, which local fairs you should be exhibiting at! Looks like I'm going to have a full diary this summer.
I have now received my wood branding kit and I can also brand leather and card with it so it'll be exciting seeing how this piece of equipment develops as I get used to using it. I will start by branding some boxes with 'Nailsworth' and see how well they go down. But I have a freestyle pen with it so the world is my 'branding oyster'! I have also found somewhere to set up my blacksmiths forge and it seems just about perfect! Local, electricity, running water, commercial space, great access and parking, what more could I ask for! This has given me the impertus to get the limited company up & running (incorporated on 24th Feb 2014, how exciting!) and I can now apply for my new business manufacturing grant to kit me out properly. This means the start of a whole new adventure and I'm really looking forward to getting on with the 2 blacksmithing commissions I already have sitting in my in-tray.
I am booked for Marlborough Spring Fair at Marlborough College on 12th April, so do come along and see me there, I'll have some new stock on show and maybe one or two new iron pieces if I have the time! It's also a great day out for the family and raises money for Cancer Research so well worth a visit. Before then I have Didcot antiques fair and Newbury Antiques fair to attend (with my other business) and Nailsworth market again on 22nd March, so no rest for the wicked...:))
Have a good one,
